The Friday Fire Track: The Claypool Lennon Delirium – “Cricket And The Genie”

After seeing Sean Lennon come onto the stage with Les Claypool and Primus during their summer tour together, it wasn’t that much of a surprise to see this collaboration happen. Mock Orange Put The Kid On The Sleepy Horse Topshelf Records [2016] Fire Note Says: Mock Orange just might be the best band you’re not listening to right now. Shrug – “Radio Madonna” [Video]

If there ever was a band that I thought would break out of Dayton, Ohio it was Shrug. Mainstays on the local circuit back in the mid-90’s the group released several quality records but never quite broke through to the bigger audience they deserved. It has been ten years since the band released a new record although its members have stayed busy in some recent groups TFN has featured here that include The Motel Beds, Human Cannonball, and The Boxcar Suite.

Well, the guys are back with their fifth long player titled Age of Ashes, which is set to release June 11th. “Radio Madonna” is the first track and video from the album and really finds the group getting back to their roots! If you enjoy the song you can also snag a free download of the single from their Bandcamp page until the album’s release.

The Friday Fire Track: Honey Radar – “Fort Wayne Mermaids”

It should be no surprise how much we love our lo-fi rock around here so Honey Radar’s new track, “Fort Wayne Mermaids,” is a perfect match. The guitar riff, the laid back behind the scenes slightly muffled vocals, the ending sample voice overlay, the two minute running time and most certainly the satisfied feeling you … Read more
