“Some Of Us” is the brand-new single from King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. The single has an accompanying heat seeking video by staple Gizz film makers PHC. The lyrics were written by band member Cook Craig and sung by Stu Mackenzie. This is a poignant observational piece, and the concerns it raises are pertinent to the somewhat nihilistic lyric in the song;
“everything turns into dust.”
The video was directed, edited and shot by John Angus Stewart. Stewart has this to say about the video: “Filmed on a Thermal Imaging Camera designed to capture and read heat temperatures. These cameras are currently in use by the military and science community to assist with monitoring of COVID-19. There is something about seeing heat in its raw form that is deeply disturbing. I think it’s got something to do with seeing the body broken down to it’s most mechanical function. It’s a not so gentle reminder that we are just meat, bone and blood. “
This is the second single from King Gizzard so one would think an album announcement could be soon although still no official word from the Flightless Records camp.
