Let’s start out by saying that I think La Luz will be one of the bigger indie surprises in 2015. The Seattle surf-rock female foursome had an excellent debut with 2013’s It’s Alive and after hearing today’s fire track, “You Disappear,” I have a heightened anticipation for their sophomore effort Weirdo Shrine due out August 7 via Hardly Art Records.
Did I mention yet that Weirdo Shrine was produced by one of the Fire Note’s favorite guys – Ty Segall! That is right – Segall’s fuzz influence mixed with La Luz’s surf moves offers something unique already and when you add in the smooth hypnotic vocals of singer Shana Cleveland – it’s a clear win win. You can hear what I am talking about when “You Disappear” hits the 2:15 mark. Enjoy your Friday!
*Also note that you should check out the first pressing on vinyl for this one. First press of vinyl is on custom half-cyan, half-red wax and all preorders receive 3D glasses for the cool looking album jacket!
