Liverpool’s synth-shoegaze quartet, Ladytron are back and have released this short film for “The Animals,” their first single in seven years. Directed by Fernando Nogari, the short film is a love letter to São Paulo that follows a group of young people on a sensory, violent, and joyous trip through the megalopolis’ underworld, creating a snapshot of Brazil’s dark, contemporary moment where shifting mores regarding culture, gender, spirituality, and identity collide.

A second single will follow in the summer, followed in the fall by a new album, both available for pre-order as limited deluxe editions via Pledge Music HERE.

Snow Patrol has premiered “Don’t Give In,” the lead single from Wildness, their first record in seven years. Said lead singer and songwriter, Gary Lightbody about the song: “‘Don’t Give In” was originally about a friend going through a tough time but the more I wrote into it I realized it was about me and the struggle of making the album – which took 5 years and was not easy – coupled with the struggle with depression I’ve had since I was a kid, so it has become the talisman of the album. The song that became a self-fulfilling prophecy.”

Here is the first video from the EP In The Future, from the current EP and forthcoming fifth Failure album. The video features David Dastmalchian (Ant-Man, Blade Runner 2049) and was directed by Ken Andrews.

Austin psych-rockers, The Black Angels have shared a music video for “Half Believing.” This is the lead track off their latest record Death Song out now on Partisan Records.

Guitarist Christian Bland says of the clip; “The idea was to create a mini ‘Twilight Zone’ episode, where a man’s life flashes before his very eyes before he enters eternity. Where he ends up, no one knows.”

The eighth album from Buffalo Killers, Alive and Well in Ohio, was recorded at their Howler Hills Farm analog studio on their own terms. Equipped with only the knowledge they had gained over the years, the band crafted this album without rules or pressure.

Today, we get to see the album’s first video for the track “Parachute.” The group travelled the short trip North to Dayton as friend Chad Wells directed. As for the effort in making the video –
Andy Gabbard simply said “We played the song about three or four times on the roof of a bike park, and froze our asses off and that was that.”

Durand Jones & The Indications will be be getting a deluxe version reissue of their 2016 self-titled debut album on March 16 via Dead Oceans/Colemine Records. Along with the album, the deluxe version will contain a digital version of Durand Jones and The Indications Live Vol. 1 making it worth the revisit. The vinyl is also getting a nice new limited color pressing and the bundle choice comes with a bonus 7″. You can find those at Dead Oceans HERE.

A new Sufjan Stevens video for “Life With Dignity” (Helado Negro Remix), taken from Stevens’ The Greatest Gift mixtape, is out and it is sure to grab your emotions. Directed by Adam Carboni, the video follows three people living with cancer. A portion of proceeds from the release—a collection of outtakes, remixes and demos from Stevens’ 2015 album Carrie & Lowell—benefit the Cancer Support Community.

The National have released the video for “Dark Side Of The Gym”, directed, choreographed and starring NYC Ballet Resident Choreographer and soloist Justin Peck and executive produced by former Miami City Ballet dancer and current dance filmmaker Ezra Hurwitz. Also starring former Miami City Ballet mentor and Principal dancer, Patricia Delgado, the video finds the duo gracefully move around a balloon filled auditorium.

Their new album Sleep Well Beast has received Grammy nominations for Best Alternative Music Album and Best Recording Package.

San Francisco’s The She’s have a new music video for their single, “Sorry.” Hannah Valente (vocals, guitar) says, “The song and video are about the fragility of relationships. It’s about wanting to hold onto the fantasy or those last wisps of when it was amazing, but in the end knowing it isn’t meant to be.”

The She’s forthcoming sophomore album, “all female rock and roll quartet”, is to be released November 17th via Empty Cellar Records (The Cairo Gang, Cool Ghouls, The Sandwitches, Magic Trick). The four piece, who have been playing music together since elementary school, self-produced the 12-song album with counsel and encouragement from tUne-Yards’ Merrill Garbus.

Here is METZ’s new video for “Drained Lake,” from their recently released album Strange Peace which is out now on Sub Pop Records. Director Shayne Ehman (who also directed the band’s video for “Cellophane”) highlights no less than the transient nature of time and space, through cutlery and kitchen wares. Fun video stuff!

Here is a new video from San Francisco’s Moral High Horses which just released their debut self-titled EP last Friday. You may be familiar with the group already, as they formed in 2016 under the name Foreign and already have built a fan base with several releases. “In Other Shoes” is a solid track so this re-branding to Moral High Horses has some momentum.

Here is a new video from Guided By Voices for “Low Flying Perfection.” The song is off their recently released and Headphone Approved LP How Do You Spell Heaven.

The video was directed by Sean Cannon and Chris Witzke. Cannon, host of WFPK’s The Guestlist radio show / podcast from Louisville, states: “The narrative for this video hit me all at once, with most of the scenes fully formed in my head. You don’t always get that lucky. I realized pretty quickly the visuals would match the intensity, immediacy, and intimacy of “Low Flying Perfection.” We rushed out to the woods armed with nothing but a camera and an ax. Two hours later, Chris and I captured this story.”

This track was one of most anticipated tracks from Radiohead’s OKNOTOK, their 20th anniversary reissue of OK Computer. The track now has a video which was directed by Oscar Hudson (uk music awards 16 best new director) and features Thom Yorke experiencing life in what the British call a lift also known as an elevator.

Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile have joined forces to release a collaboration as unique and unusual as their talents. The new album Lotta Sea Lice will be released October 13th via Matador Records. The record also finds Barnett and Vile grabbing some of their colleagues as well for the album such as Mick Turner and Jim White of the Dirty Three, Stella Mozgawa from Warpaint, and Aussie icon Mick Harvey. Toronto-based punks PUP are well known for one-upping themselves. PUP release their latest for “Old Wounds,” a totally immersive, choose your adventure style video. That is right – sort of a choose your adventure video –
cool!

“This video is one of the craziest things we’ve done as a band,” laughs singer/guitarist Stefan Babcock. “We actually each wrote our own individual storylines,” Babcock continues. “From Steve’s sports obsession to Zack’s weirdo sci-fi brain soup, and Nestor’s unnatural love of pizza to me going off the deep end in the wilderness… this video is pure PUP.”

Racquet Club is the newly formed quartet featuring members of Knapsack, The Jealous Sound and Samiam which are releasing their self-titled debut album September 29th via Rise Records. Produced by Alex Newport (Bloc Party, Frank Turner), Racquet Club sounds like the indie rock record you would expect.

The music video for “Head Full Of Bees,” was directed by Steve Hanft who is best known Beck’s “Where It’s At” video. Racquet Club will be making the below headline and support appearances throughout 2017.

Kevin Morby has a new video for the contemplative City Music standout “Downtown’s Lights.” Directed by Hugo Jouxtel and shot in Paris, the video – like the album – is a paean to the cities of the world, with the City of Lights taking center stage.

Kevin begins his US tour next week in Seattle. This comes on the heels of festival performances at Primavera Sound, Field Day, Bonnaroo, Solid Sound, Roskilde, Montreux Jazz Festival, Latitude, Newport Folk, and more, as well as heaps of critical praise for his album City Music (the follow-up to last year’s breakthrough Singing Saw). Iron & Wine and returning director J. Austin Wilson (“Call It Dreaming”) have delivered an official video for “Thomas County Law” from the new album Beast Epic. The album is due out August 25th on Sub Pop.

Iron & Wine has scheduled an extensive U.S. tour with a full band in support of Beast Epic beginning with a two night stand in Chicago on October 12th and 13th (both at Thalia Hall), and ends with a two night stand in New York in November 13th (at Town Hall) and 14th (at Brooklyn Steel). Manchester Orchestra had always prided themselves on their approach. The Atlanta-based band, led by Andy Hull and co-writer Robert McDowell (who is also Hull’s brother-in-law and lifelong friend), had spent their career challenging each other to build a poignant, exhilarating narrative with each new album and EP. The band had worked relentlessly to cultivate a passionate fan base the old-fashioned way: releasing music, making music videos, and touring (most recently with drummer Tim Very and bassist Andy Prince). Their previous long-player, 2014’s Cope, had even spawned a cover album of itself by its creators, an acoustic-reworking and reimagining of its songs with a heavily emotional bent that they called Hope. But now — thirty years old, stable, and a first-time father — Hull found himself facing a crisis of inspiration.

A Black Mile to the Surface is a bold record of vision and purpose, inspired by and dwelling in a sensory, cinematic experience. It’s a reinvention of sorts, both musically and personally—a sort of cosmic worldview shift. But in the end, the record’s themes are universal. On the stunning final track, Hull sings, “Let me watch you as close as a memory/ Let me hold you above all the misery/ Let me open my eyes and be glad that I got here.” Certainly, that’s a father speaking hope to his daughter, but it’s also a message to listeners. How do you write songs about being happy? With your eyes wide open, your loved ones in front of you, and the misery of the world waiting just outside the door.

A Black Mile To The Surface is out July 28 via Loma Vista Recordings. The album – features production by Catherine Marks (Foals, The Killers, Interpol), John Congleton (St. Vincent, Explosions In The Sky, Angel Olsen, Cloud Nothings), and Dan Hannon (Manchester Orchestra’s longtime producer).

Los Angeles-based Wand have announced their new release of Plum, out September 22nd via Drag City Records. Watch the video for “Plum” below. As Hanson describes it, “The song transpires between our collective harmony and individual dissent. It felt like we were each trying to obstruct a clear path in order to discover new space. As a total accident, ‘Plum’ wound up being a miniature blueprint to the musical language we developed together over months of dedicated writing.” You can see the album’s tracklist below along with the band’s tour dates.
