Fire Drill Album Review: Everything about The Peace and Truce of Future of the Left is bigger, better, meaner and tighter than ever. Andrew Falkous certainly has not softened over the course of five LPs. If anything, he is getting heavier and surgical in his ire towards all things that are shitty. It seems that he is blending his Christian Fitness sound into Future of the Left. Stripped down and tight arrangements that just pummel the listener. The bass lines dance in front of most of the tracks with a guitar sound that stretches to the point of breaking. Razor sharp and taut music laced with Falkous’ trademark sardonic and justly bucolic lyrics make for some of the best songs Future of the Left has ever recorded and make The Peace and Truce of Future of the Left one of the best albums of 2016, and for me, the best Future of the Left album yet. Just listen to “Proper Music” once and you will think so too.
