Fire Drill Album Review: Addie Pray’s new record, Screentime, is a super easy album to just sit down and listen to. Songwriter/vocalist Carmen Perry of SPORTS (which released the Headphone Approved All Of Something a month ago) has a drawl to her voice that is inviting, honest and just makes you want to sit down and have a conversation with her. I would compare her style as a more laid back Waxahatchee and Courtney Barnett but her undercurrent of indie rock that swirls up on this album from time to time takes me back to early Liz Phair. Screentime’s strength is that it feels focused even though it technically is a side project for Perry. With songs that have very familiar themes it is easy to chuckle and connect with Addie Pray – if this type of indie rock is in your wheelhouse Screentime is worth seeking out and giving a spin.
