I will admit that it takes quite a bit to get me excited when it comes to new music these days. So much of it comes at us from so many different directions anymore it really is hard to keep up. Do I still love it? – Absolutely. Is picking a worthy “fire” track every week fun? – You bet. Does it feel like going through the motions? – Sometimes.
That makes this week’s track that much more special. I say that because Tame Impala keeps growing and growing and honestly don’t need any exposure – especially from this little DIY music site. With that said, “Let It Happen” was released to the world this week and it represents Tame Impala’s first new music since 2012. That still is not a big deal because new music from them soon was expected; what was not expected was this almost eight minute beast of a song that will spin you around, pull you up, slide you down, make your feet tap, and settle you back down with a stylistic groove.
“Let It Happen” is a full on psych-rock track that also includes some promised synthesizer electronic magic – which I dreaded. I was wrong – it completely works on this song. Tame Impala flash greatness throughout the track with its consistently moving song structure and vocal circles. The band closes the epic song down as they mow you over with a catchy heavy funk driven by their guitars. I respect that the band is not afraid of sounding like a modern ELO and push their sound in different directions but the key piece that is highlighted on “Let It Happen,” is that Tame Impala also will not be giving up any ground on their rising status in the rock world.
No album information from the band has been released yet but I would look for that soon. In the meantime, just enjoy Tame Impala at their best with “Let It Happen” and check out their tour dates below.
